  • Biomedical Research Education Trust

    Deadline: Open now, no deadline given
    Eligibility:Proposals must promote the use and development of 3Rs methods

  • British Heart Foundation Advanced Training Award

    Deadline: Call is open, no closing deadline
    Eligibility: Researchers between 1-3 years of completing their PhD. Candidates must be moving into a different field of science (e.g. from cell biology to bioinformatics or entering cardiovascular science from a different discipline)

  • International Travel Scheme

    Deadline: Call is open, no closing deadline
    Eligibility: Indian researchers presenting a research paper in an international scientific event (conference, seminar, workshop etc.) held outside India

  • Wellcome Innovator Awards

    Deadline: Call is open, no closing deadline
    Eligibility: Individuals and teams from not-for-profit and commercial organisations can apply. Organisations can be of any size, based anywhere in the world. Partnerships, particularly between not-for-profit and commercial organisations, are encouraged. These awards support researchers who are transforming great ideas into healthcare innovations that could have a significant impact on human health. Applications must be submitted through the Wellcome Trust Grant Tracker.

  • Innovate UK and XCellR8 – Testing ‘mild’ formulations

    Deadline: Call is open, no closing deadline
    Eligibility: Fully-funded case studies to assess mild cosmetic and personal care formulations using cutting-edge in vitro techniques. Contact info@x-cellr8.com for details.

  • Parkinson’s Foundation Impact Awards

    Deadline: Letters of Intent (LOI) will be accepted year-round on a rolling basis
    Eligibility: The Parkinson’s Foundation Impact Awards are designed for researchers both established and new to the field of PD. This award is open to all scientists with a PhD or MD, regardless of nationality or location.

  • NIHR Antimicrobial Resistance Highlight Notice

    Deadline: Depends on specific research programme
    Eligibility: Call for proposals for clinical and applied health research into the evaluation of public health measures, health care interventions and health services to reduce the development and spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and consequent morbidity. Possible joint awards in partnership with our research partners available for Dravet syndrome, Krabbe disease, Ataxia Telangiectasia, myotubular myopathy and Diamond-Blackfan Anaemia.

  • LifeArc Philanthropic Fund

    Eligibility: Proposal must address a rare disease medical need, have a strong scientific rationale and be target driven

  • LifeArc Seed Fund

    Eligibility: Early stage spin-out companies (UK only)

  • Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance: Research Priorities & Grant Program

    Deadline: There are several grant opportunities with different deadlines (the earliest is January 15)
    Eligibility: FARA supports research across the spectrum from basic research through drug development and clinical research programs in FA. FARA particularly encourages junior investigators to submit a letter of intentions.

  • The Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence

    Deadline: None stated – contact industry@royalsociety.org
    Eligibility: The scheme is open to applicants of any nationality, who are eligible to work in the UK for the duration of the award. Applicants should have a background in science and engineering, although they do not necessarily have to hold a PhD.
